HERE ARE SOME TIPS ON KEEPING YOUR JEWELLERY LOOKING ITS BEST.

Perfume, skin and hair products can all react with silver, causing: tarnishing, erosion to plating and even damage to stones – especially pearls. So always apply your products before putting on your jewellery, and leave for a few minutes for it to be absorbed by the skin.

Treat your jewellery with care – remove when doing physical work, playing sports, housework etc. Hot weather and sweat can also speed up the tarnishing process. Jewellery should always be removed before swimming and bathing.

Jewellery boxes are a great place to keep your jewellery, but you should keep in mind that it does not protect the sterling silver pieces from tarnishing and oxidation. Ideally, store silver pieces in an airtight bag to help reduce tarnishing. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.

STERLING SILVER

Tarnishing is a natural process that is caused when sterling silver is exposed to humidity and chemicals such as hydrogen sulphide in the air. Keep silver jewellery away from harsh chemicals like household cleaning fluids as they create abrasions and reduce the lustre of the metal.

Using a soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep silver jewellery looking shiny and lustrous. A silver cleaner can also be used to clean sterling silver pieces.

GOLD AND BLACK RHODIUM PLATED

Our gold and black rhodium plating consists of 2-3 layers, plated on top of sterling silver. These layers can gradually wear, giving the appearance that it has faded. Everyday wear may speed up this process, especially on items like rings and bracelets which have lots of contact with other objects.

Do not let your jewellery come into contact with nail polish removers, perfume or hairspray. Try not to wear gold plated jewellery on a day to day basis, that way you will enjoy them for much longer. And try to frequently clean your jewellery with a mild dishwashing liquid, diluted in water.

Use of a polishing cloth or strong jewellery cleaner is not recommended.

We offer a re-plating service for our plated jewellery, please contact us for a quote.
